It was reported that Nippon Light Metal Georgia (NLMGA), a joint venture (JV) between Nippon Light Metal North America, Inc. and ITOCHU Metals Corp., planned to build a new aluminum forging plant in Adairsville, Georgia, with an investment of US$50 million, for producing aluminum suspension parts used in cars.

According to NLMGA, the demand for light vehicles continued increasing with the stricter environmental regulations worldwide, so the demand for aluminum was predicted to grow in North America. Therefore, NLMGA chose to set up a new plant to strengthen its global supply structure with ITOCHU Metals’s operating experience.

The new aluminum forging plant was expected to create 110 new job vacancies, and the plant will start the operations in 2022.
