According to statistics released by Japan’s Ministry of Finance, Japan’s steel sheet pile exports totaled 15,000 tons in July this year, growing by 3.1% compared to the previous month and also hiking by 16.4% from the same month a year ago.

In the first seven months of this year, the cumulative exports amounted to 93,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 14.5%.

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic spread in Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia, overseas laborers haven’t been allowed to enter these countries, resulting in delays in construction projects. Therefore, the demand for steel sheet piles is still at a standstill.

In terms of imports, the volume in July totaled around 690 tons only. The imports in the first seven months of this year were 40,000 tons, down by nearly 13% year on year.
