Japanese steelmakers are looking to raise the price of shipbuilding plate to the China market for October. Steelmakers want to increase the price by US$10/ton compared to the price in September to US$650/ton. China’s biggest steelmaker, Baosteel, raised their domestic price for the fourth quarter by about US$13/ton. Supply of shipbuilding plate in the China market is currently tight and they have import from the Japanese market in order to meet demand. (Aug. 29)
