It was expected that the August domestic demand for scrap from the Kanto steel mills in Japan will have a year-on-year increase, but the production cut in summer might lead to a month-on-month drop in August.

There were 16 steel mills in the Kanto region which were expected to produce around 380,000 tons of crude steel in August, up by 4.6% compared to the same month a year ago, but lower than the estimate of 400,000 tons in July, with a month-on-month decline of 3.8%.
