It was reported that Japan is considering a new stimulus package worth 100 trillion yen, which will mainly include financial assistance programs for businesses hit by the COVID-19 outbreak.

The plan will be funded by the second extra budget for the fiscal year that began in April. It was the government's second big stimulus package after a record US$1.1 trillion in spending last month to cope with the impact of the outbreak. The previous stimulus package focused on cash providing to affected households and loans to small businesses.

The government was expected to approve the second extra budget at a cabinet meeting this Wednesday, which will also include subsidies to help companies pay rent and wages while they were closed because of the outbreak.
