According to the statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), the production of global crude steel in 2016 was around 1.63 billion tons. Among them, the production from electric furnace was around 417 million tons, up by 2.77% compared to the same period in 2015.

In 2016, the production of Chinese electric furnace steel came to around 51.6 million tons, rising by 5.94% compared to 2015, accounting for 12.36% of the global electric furnace steel production.
