Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA), the largest producer of ferro-chrome in India, indicated that India’s exports of ferro-chrome to Asia might slump by one third due to increasing demand in domestic market.

IMFA expected that India’s export volume of ferro-chrome would be down to 300,000 tons by 2015 from 450,000 tons in this year because the worldwide demand for ferro-chrome will be much higher than supply in this two years.

Meanwhile, India is the second-fast country of growing economy. So far, its domestic demand for the auto industry, the constructions of airport and railway has boosted the consumption of stainless steel sharply.

Hence, the domestic consumption of ferro-chrome is predicted to soar from 450,000 tons to 1 million tons by 2015. The annual output of ferro-chrome in India would increase by 44% to 1.3 million tons.
