According to the report, Indian Tata Steel planned to expand its capacity at recent acquired Tata Steel BSL (BSL) plant from 5.6 million tons yearly to 8.3 million tons.

This May, Tata Steel acquired Bhushan Steel, operated at about 3.5 million tons at the beginning. Rajeev Singhal, the new managing director of Tata Steel BSL, said they aimed to operate at full capacity in two years, and to stabilize operations and to elaborate the full potential of the company.

Tata Steel had several iron ore mines nearby Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar, and it would save the cost supporting BSL to increase its capacity. It begun expansion at the Kalinganagar plant in Odisha from 5 to 8 million tons and targeted to 16 million tons yearly.
