It is reported that the Indian government plans to use anti-dumping policy to suppress steel imports from China and other neighboring countries.

The rising demand for steel imports from China triggered worries from domestic steelmakers. India's mining minister Narendra Singh Tomar said on April 1st, "Indian enterprises are currently under great pressure, and governments will pay close attention to the trend of imports of steel. We have submitted to the Finance Department a request to raise import tariffs."

It is reported that the Indian government has decided to levy the anti-dumping measures, by increasing the steel import tariffs from 10~15% in the future if necessary. However, in the past month there's no obvious signs of rising, which makes India steelmakers more worried, thus repeatedly called on the government to implement the commitment to raise tariffs.

During 2014 to 2015, India imported over 9 million tons of steel, reaching a record high and far more than 5.45 million tons in the previous stage. Moreover, neighboring countries exported lager number of steel to India, benefitted from various kind of bilateral trade agreements.
