India to develop recycling and scrapping industry actively

India is actively developing the recycling and scrapping industries to improve the benefits of resource reuse.

MSRTC, a public transport agency under the Maharashtra government, announced that it will build the state's largest vehicle scrapping processing facility on 100 acres of land in a revenue-sharing public-private partnership (PPP) model. Compared with other scrapping centers that only cover 2 to 4 acres, the new facility can not only process private cars, but also scrap MSRTC's own operating vehicles, becoming a new source of income.

At the same time, Tata Steel CEO T V Narendran pointed out that the recycling industry will surpass traditional mining in the next few decades and is expected to become the main resource supply model by 2050. He emphasized the potential of urban mining, especially in extracting key mineral resources from electronic products, which will help solve the resource shortage problem facing India.

Actions from the government to enterprises show that India is accelerating the development of a circular economy, and the recycling industry will become a key pillar of future economic and environmental sustainability.
