Hydro Energi AS has signed a long-term power purchase agreement with Skellefteå Kraft AB, one of Sweden’s largest energy producers, to supply Hydro’s Norwegian aluminum plant with 2 TWh of renewable energy from 2025 to 2032.

The agreement will ensure Hydro receives 2 TWh from Skellefteå Kraft over the next eight years to power the company’s aluminum smelter in Norway.

Renewable energy is crucial for aluminum production in Norway, reducing the carbon footprint by approximately 75% compared to the global average.

The power agreement will maintain Hydro’s position as a global leader in low-carbon aluminum production while advancing the company’s goal of zero emissions by 2050.
