Recently, the first high manganese steel marine fuel tanks made of the new high manganese steel of HBIS Group's Wuyang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. (Wugang) have safely operated with the ship for more than 20,000 sea miles.

This was the first time domestic application of HBIS high manganese steel on real ships which marks that the new generation of high manganese steel with high performance and ultra-low temperature has achieved domestic engineering application.

As learned, high manganese steel is pure austenitic alloy steel with a manganese content of 22% to 25% and no nickel with good low-temperature toughness, high ductility, and high strength properties. It will ensure its low-temperature strength, toughness, fatigue resistance, and other properties and help downstream customers reduce manufacturing costs compared with 9Ni steel used in traditional LNG storage vessels.
