According to the World Steel Association (WORLDSTEEL), in April 2017, the 67 of the world's major steel producing countries and regions produced 142 million tons of crude iron, growth of 5% compared with the same period of last year, for 11 consecutive months increase.

In April of this year, the 28 member EU countries’ crude steel production was 14.3 million tons, increased by 6.1% compared with the same period of last year; CIS crude steel production was 8.44 million tons, down by 3.2% compared with the same period of last year; the North American’s crude steel production was 9.56 million tons, increased by 2.9% compared with the same period of last year; the South American’s crude steel production was 3.63 million tons, increased by 22.1% compared with the same period of last year; Asian crude steel production was 98.6 million tons, increased by 4.8% compared with the same period of last year, respectively.
