EUROFER and EUROMETAL leaders met to explore collaborative efforts aimed at reinforcing the European steel and steel-using industries. The discussion followed the March 2025 Steel Dialogue, where EUROMETAL highlighted the challenges posed by imported steel derivatives to Europe’s distribution and manufacturing sectors.

Both organizations emphasized the need for a strong, integrated steel supply chain to maintain Europe’s strategic autonomy. They urged the EU to transform the Steel and Metals Action Plan into effective regulatory frameworks and policies that support the full value chain, from production to processing.

EUROMETAL, representing nearly 50% of EU steel deliveries, warned that without targeted support, processors risk losing competitiveness. The broader supply chain supports 13.6 million direct jobs, and its decline could trigger European deindustrialization, including loss of R&D and innovation.
