Founded in 1970, European Metal Recycling (EMR) was the UK's largest scrap metal recycler, with branches in the southeast, central and northeastern part of the UK, specializing in the recycling of scrap metal from a range of sources such as vehicles, consumer products, industry, construction, etc.

It was reported that the EMR has sold part of the Metals and Waste Recycling (M&W) to the Recycling Lives, a British recycling and waste management company. The sale resulted from a survey conducted by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) about EMR’s acquisition of M&W in 2017.

The sale was scheduled to be completed on May 30th.
