Because of the strong demand comes from Taiwan's shipbuilding, construction and machinery industries, Taiwan's China Steel Corp.(CSC) has received lots of heavy plate orders in the first quarter of 2011.

According to CSC's calculation, its quarterly heavy plate shipping volume might be over than 250 thousand tons which is better than the same time in 2010.

Therefore, in order to satisfy the increasing demand, CSC has decided to postpone its heavy plant's annual maintenance schedule until the end of this year or early 2012.

Meanwhile, some market analysts believe that both CSC's heavy plate order and shipping volume in the second quarter of 2011 will be higher than that in the first quarter due to the raising market demand.
