Core Natural Resources, Inc. has completed the merger of equals between US-based coal supplier Arch Resources, Inc. and coal producer and exporter CONSOL Energy Inc., effective January 14, 2025. The merger received more than 99% approval from the stockholders of both companies.

With a production capacity of 12 million tons per year, Core will focus on supplying metallurgical coal to the global steel, industrial, and power sectors. The company will leverage export terminals on the US East Coast and access ports on the West Coast and Gulf of Mexico.

Core's executive chair Jimmy Brock highlighted the merger as a transformational move that poses Core as a leader in the metallurgical and thermal coal markets, and CEO Paul A. Lang stressed the company's commitment to safety, environmental and social stewardship, integrity, and operational excellence.
