China’s coated steel exports to the EU and U.S. have declined as a result of slow economic growth in those markets and due to tax policy issues.

Accordingly, China is seeking to increase its GI exports to Asian and African markets, since the demand in those markets remain high due to high economic growth.

After cancellation of its tax rebate, China’s coated steel strip exports declined significantly; however, exports of hot dipped galvanized steel coil and pre-painted steel with 5 percent tax rebate still kept growing.

In May, China exported 348,800 tons of hot dipped galvanized steel, an increase of 13 percent compared to this April’s figures. Meanwhile, pre-painted steel exports even increased by 37 percent to 248,000 tons compared to this April’s shipments.
