China's crude steel production declines in H1 2025

China's crude steel output for the first half of 2025 totaled 514.83 million tons, decreasing by 3% compared to the corresponding period a year ago. In June alone, crude steel output was 83.18 million tons, down by 9.2% year on year. This was the lowest monthly level so far this year. The average daily output fell to 2.77 million tons, hitting the lowest since last December, down by 0.7% from the previous month.

In terms of pig iron, the production in the first six months of this year amounted to 434.68 million tons, slightly falling by 0.8% from the same period a year ago. The output in June was 71.91 million tons, a year-on-year fall of 4.1%.

The finished steel output in the January-June period totaled 734.38 million tons, growing by 4.6% year on year. The production in June alone was 127.84 million tons, up by 1.8% year on year.
