Reportedly, Aluminum Corporation of China Limited (CHALCO) has entered a joint venture agreement with Gulf International Investment Group Holdings Sdn Bhd (GIIG) to build a US$1.6 billion aluminum smelting plant in Sarawak, Malaysia.

The proposed project is expected to produce 370 thousand tons of primary aluminum per year.

Meanwhile, CHALCO is the major holding company for previously state-own aluminum smelter in China; also, it is the largest aluminum producer in China.
