It was reported that Canadian Ambassador to the US, David MacNaughton, said the tariffs imposed by the US on steel and aluminum was expected to be lifted in next few weeks.

Since March 2018, the US began to impose 25% and 10% tariffs on imported steel and aluminum, yet Canada carried out counter-tariffs on wide range products from the US.

A new trade deal was signed and took place of NAFTA last October among Canada, the US and Mexico (CUSMA).

MacNaughton added that China was excluded from the tariffs providing advantage better than Canada, saying that wasn't sensible. MacNaughton was confident to have a result in the next few weeks. However, his American counterpart wasn’t sure about it.
