A recent survey released by the Ocean Shipping Consultants Ltd from UK found that South Korea’s Busan port is the port with the lowest unloading change in East Asia. According to the survey, Busan's unloading charge per container is 47 percent lower than that of Japan’s Kobe and 28 percent than the Kaohsiung port in Taiwan. Furthermore, the survey said there is no big difference on facility and efficiency between the Kaohsiung, Shanghai and Hong Kong ports. As for the port rate, in Kaohsiung it is US$110 per 40 foot container while it is US$80 in Shanghai and US$338 in Hong Kong for the same size container. (June 2)
