According to the data from Brazil Steel Institute (Instituto Aço Brasil, IABr), Brazil’s crude steel production totaled 3.1 million tons in August, growing by 14.1% compared to the same month a year ago.

During the period, Brazil’s steel exports were 865,000 tons, up by nearly 3% year on year. The export value had a year-on-year increase of 128% to US$868 million. The steel imports reached 461,000 tons, soaring by nearly 255% year on year. The import value had a year-on-year hike of 204% to US$463 million.

In the first eight months of this year, Brazil’s crude steel production amounted to around 24 million tons, rising by 21% year on year. The steel exports were down by nearly 11% year on year to 6.9 million tons, and the steel imports grew by nearly 164% year on year to 3.5 million tons.
