BHP Billiton has announced plans to expand aluminum output at Worsley Alumina in west Australia.

Worsley Alumina is a joint venture between BHP Billiton (86 per cent), Japan Alumina Associates (Australia) Pty Ltd (10 Percent) and Sojitz Alumina Pty Ltd (4 Percent).

The project would lift the annual production capacity in the refinery to 4.6 million tons from current 3.5 million tons.
