Anglo American's Chilean operations this year will be moved up to 660,000 tons. In order to reach this target of produciton quantity, Anglo American was working on its expansions at its Los Bronces and Collahuasi mines.

Anglo American was moving towards its expansions at South American mines. The copper supply will be more constrained in the future years, and the new production figures will come out with lower cost guidance of 140 c/lb for 2018.

Bigger power grids around the world and an electric-vehicle boom will be expected to raise demand, while supplies were remained constrained.

In July, Anglo American started its construction at its US$5-billion Quellaveco mine in Peru. It will begin the first production from the operation in 2022. This project will produce 300,000 tons of copper yearly.

The project was managed by both Anglo American and Mitsubishi. Anglo owned 60% and Mitsubishi owned 40%.
