AM/NS India, the joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel in India, recently announced two new plans to expand its operations in India. The company planned to build new blast furnaces, sintering facilities, iron-making coke ovens, basic oxygen furnaces, steel-making continuous casters, and hot strip mills at the Hazira plant to increase steel production capacity. Besides, it planned to buy ports, power, and other assets from India’s Essar Group.

The company planned to increase Hazira's crude steel production capacity to million tons by 2026.

In addition, AM/NS India also planned to build a new steel mill on India's east coast with an annual capacity of 30 million tons by 2030.
