America’s purchasing activities of flat steel products slowed down since weeks ago. And the prices for both home and import decreased further.

Deals were in logjam due to weak demand, soft price, and finance crisis. The ex-work hot rolled steel price of mills in middle and west America on mainstream was at US$992~1,102/ton. And according to some traders, some spot prices were even lower than US$992/tons.

The price of cold rolled coils decreased by US$44/ton in the last week. The current price has been fallen to US$1,058/ton or even lower. But some mills still quoted US$1,146/ton.

Import price of flat steel also kept decreasing. India’s cold rolled coil price was down by US$132/ton. And the current price on mainstream was at US$1,146 – US$1,191/ton, while China’s price was at the same level.
