According to the latest forecast from AlixPartners, a US consulting company, the global automotive industry was expected to lose US$210 billion in revenues in 2021 due to the worldwide shortage of semiconductors, obviously higher than the estimated US$110 billion in May.

Besides, automobile production was forecasted to lose 7.7 million units this year, which was higher than the 3.9 million units predicted in May.

Boston Consulting Group (BCG) previously said that automobile production in 2021 will drop by nearly 9 million units due to the global lack of semiconductors.
