The UAE has joined the list of supporters for the massive US$25 billion gas pipeline project linking Nigeria to Morocco and eventually Europe.

Leila Benali, Morocco's Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, announced the UAE's support, alongside the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), the OPEC Fund, and the European Investment Bank (EIB). Feasibility and engineering studies are complete for the project, called African-Atlantic Gas Pipeline, which will traverse 15 African nations, boosting trade and electricity access.

The 6,800-km pipeline, set to be the world's longest offshore one, will connect Nigeria's gas network to Europe via Morocco. Morocco and Nigeria have a joint venture to manage the project, with China's Jingye Steel Group supplying pipes for the construction.
