Taiwan faces scrap shortage, import prices rise

30 Apr 2025 15:49 reported by Ellen Huang

A A A
The rebar market recovered in Taiwan last week after a seven-week stagnation. Upstream rebar mills were eager to purchase new scrap for production input. However, steel scrap is in short supply in Taiwan, so imported scrap is necessary for now.

Along with the international scrap price upward due to stricter export policies from most countries, rebar producers are suffering from high-cost supply, hard to ask any discount from the import supply.
