Finland doubles aluminum export value to Russia in Q1-Q3

29 Nov 2024 16:51 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
In the first three quarters of this year, Finland's aluminum export value to Russia increased to EUR 22.3 million, doubling year on year (EUR 11.3 million in the same period last year).

The main growth came from exports of aluminum spikes for car wheels, which are exempt from sanctions and produced by Turvanasta, a Finnish aluminum spike producer.

Although the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it would not interfere with non-sanctioned goods, the potential military use of aluminum spikes has raised concerns.
