Kobe Steel, one of the major steelmakers in Japan, announced a capital investment of around 32 billion yen at its Kakogawa Works’ sheet metal plant to focus on the renovation of hot-dip galvanized steel sheet equipment.

In the fiscal year 2017, the company sold "ZAM" steel sheets (hot-dip zinc-aluminum-magnesium alloy-coated steel sheets) on an OEM basis and launched its own brand "KOBEMAG".

The investment is aimed at integrating in-house production to meet customer needs.

KOBEMAG is widely used in residential and automotive fields due to its excellent corrosion resistance and workability, and demand is expected to be stable.
