Reportedly, Ecuadorian Andec, long product producer in Ecuador, has announced to launch its new electric arc furnace (EAF) after a 15-day trial testing run in December last year.

Meanwhile, all equipment was supplied by Italy's Danieli group and it expected to add annual billet production capacity to 220,000 tons.

Currently, the company has run with annual production capacity to 120,000 tons in other lines.

In the meantime, the company expects to install continuous billet caster in order to enable the full EAF operation in April 2014. It will make the company’s production capacity to reach 250,000 tons.
