According to statistics released by the marketing center of Ukrainian Mining and Metallurgical Company (JSC UMMC), Ukraine’s steel imports in the first two months of this year totaled 352,700 tons, surging significantly by 50.3% year on year.

Among them, 40.4% were tubular billets; 17.2% were hot rolled sheet and 5.6% were cold rolled sheet.

UMMC pointed out that the tubular billets were mainly supplied by the Oskol electro-metallurgical plant and Belarusian steel works.

The data also showed that Ukraine imported 237,300 tons of steel products in February.

In February, Russian steelmakers including Magnitogorsk, Severstal and Novolipetsk were the major suppliers of hot rolled steel sheet to Ukraine.
