Global mining company Rio Tinto reported that its iron ore production at its Pilbara operations totaled 84.1 million tons in the third quarter of this year, up by 6% compared to the previous quarter and by 1% from the same quarter a year ago.

During the period, Pilbara iron ore shipments amounted to 84.5 million tons, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 5% and a year-on-year hike of 1%.

In the first nine months, Rio Tinto’s Pilbara iron ore production dropped by 1% year on year to 241.5 million tons, and iron ore shipments at the operations also slid by 1% from the same period a year ago.

Rio Tinto maintained its guidance for Pilbara iron ore shipments at 323-338 million tons for 2024.
