The Turkish government announced that it would impose import tariffs on certain steel products from May 20th to September 30th.

Among them, hot-rolled plates under HS codes 7208 9080 1012 and 7208 9080 2012 applied a 14% tax rate, all kinds of cold-rolled sheets under HS code 7208 9080 applied a 10% tax rate, and alloy sheets under HS code 7225 9900 0090 applied an 11% tax rate.

Alloy wires under HS codes 7229 2000 0012, 7229 9050 0012 and 7229 9090 0012, and pipes under HS codes 7304 and 7306 were subject to a 10% tax rate.

The duty rate of the above steel products will be reduced by 5% from October.

Raising tariffs was to prevent domestic manufacturers from importing steel products excessively, said the sources.
