Metinvest, Ukraine’s mining and steel production group, announced that it has completed the upgrading on beneficiation equipment at its subsidiary, Central Iron Ore Enrichment Works (CGOK).

With an annual production capacity of 6 million tons, CGOK was the only mine in Ukraine that used both open-pit quartzite fields and underground mining and specializing in the processing and production of raw materials for the steel industry. The average iron content of commercial concentrate produced by CGOK was 65.0% to 68.2%, and the average iron content of its pellets was 63.9%.

After the equipment upgrade, the plant was now able to conduct beneficiation of ordinary concentrates to produce high-quality concentrates containing 70.5% iron, which was the raw material required in the production technology of direct reduced iron (DRI) pellets.
