In March 2018, Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (ATI) demanded an exemption of 25% US import tariff on 300,000 tons of stainless steel slabs imported from Indonesia last year to support its joint venture in Pennsylvania with China's Tsingshan Group.

At the end of the investigation, ATI believed that the US Department of Commerce (USDOC) has obtained all the information they needed and expected to make a decision this quarter.

ATI is also continuing discussions with the USDOC and Tsingshan Group on the operation of the joint venture. The USDOC has not responded immediately to this request.
