On April 10, US President Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause on tariffs for 75 countries, with a tariff rate lowered to 10%, following his previous decision to impose reciprocal tariffs globally, which caused a massive drop in global stock markets.

Trump’s decision to suspend the tariffs is linked to ongoing trade discussions, as over 75 countries have reached out to US representatives, including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the Office of the US Trade Representative, to resolve issues such as trade barriers, currency manipulation, and non-tariff barriers. 

Despite this, Trump stated he would increase tariffs on China to 125%, effective immediately, citing China’s disrespect for global markets. The full list of countries benefiting from the tariff delay has yet to be revealed.
