UK steel mills have increased their prices by around £100/ton over the past six months as demand in the domestic market is rising due to the booming construction industry. The price of 16, 20 and 25 mm rebar has increased from £280 to 300/ton in February to the current level of £360 to 380/ton. The market price appears to have reached a peak but as demand remains high, prices could remain at high levels. (Aug. 15)
