German machine tool and laser manufacturer TRUMPF has announced on October 08, that it has assumed control of SPI Lasers effectively on this Tuesday.

The shareholders of SPI Lasers approved the bid submitted by TRUMPF and SPI Laser’s 90 percent share was sold to TRUMPF.

The TRUMPF Group ranks among the leading manufacturing companies worldwide with sales totaling 2.14 billion for the 2007/08 fiscal year, and its core business are machine tools for flexible sheet metal processing for punching and forming, laser processing and bending.

SPI Lasers, with its headquarter in Southampton, United Kingdom, is a leading designer and manufacturer of optical fiber-based lasers for use in materials processing applications in a wide range of industries. And it has a broad product range which will nicely complement TRUMPF's product portfolio.
