According to the announcement by Tenaris, a Luxembourg-based steel pipe maker, it would have job cuts of around 110 union employees in its welded pipe production facility in Calgary in Alabama in the US as of April 1st due to current serious market conditions, such as declining commodity prices, growth in foreign imports, and global recession caused by COVID-19.

Moreover, the operation in Prudential would be reduced to meet the current market conditions because of the lower forecasted demand for welded steel pipes.

However, the layoff announcement would not bring impact to Tenaris’ distribution centers across Canada and the US, as well as other production facilities in Canada, including seamless steel pipes facilities and threading and accessories facility.
