Tata Steel of India will invest Rs.1,000 crore to build an 3,200 acre industrial park at Gopalpur in Orissa's Ganjam district.

The company plans to set up a steel plant complex in the industrial park, that a ferrochrome plant and a bar mill are firstly to be built.

These two plants will contribute with at least 1000 employment. Other new units at the industrial park are proposed and under studied by several investors.

Tata Steel earlier abandoned its steel plant project at Gopalpur because of water scarcity. At this time, Tata Steel will take desiltation and water harvesting in the industrial park to meet water requirement.
