China Steel Corporation (CSC), the largest steelmaker in Taiwan, has recently filed dumping charges with the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) against steel giants such as Chinese Baosteel, Japanese JFE Steel and Nippon Steel, and South Korean Posco.

CSC complained that the carbon steel plates imported from South Korea and India are unfairly competing against the local firms who proposed to levy 35.89% and 38.53% anti-dumping duties on these products respectively.

In addition, CSC suggests that non-directional electrical steel coils imported from Japan enjoy zero tariffs but should be levied 17.12% anti-dumping duties.

Meanwhile, Taiwan’s steelmakers are pursuing anti-dumping duties on carbon steel cold rolled steel imported from China for 34.16% and South Korea for 30.28%.

According to the MOEA’s Trade Investigation Commission, the decision on whether to levy interim anti-dumping duties on these steelmakers will be made after the public hearings by the end of April.
