Reportedly, Sumitomo Metals will deliver the first batch of H SA700, ultra-high tensile strength steel to Obayashi for the construction of a Techno Station main building at its Technical Research Institute.

The new steel will be able to stand by large earthquake strikes in order to avoid seriously damaged respectively.

H-SA700, an ultra-high tensile strength steel material with yield strength around twice as high as conventional steel was developed to improve the seismic performance of buildings.

Also, Sumitomo Metals developed an innovative process for the material, including omitting the preheating for welding work.
