Finland’s Outokumpu OSPT announced that they will be restructuring their Swedish stainless steel tube operations. They are planning to increase the output at its Nyby mill while the mill at Fagersta will be closed. The Fagersta mill mainly produces water and heat exchange tubes and has an annual output of less than 15, 000 tons. OSTP has scheduled the closure of the mill for around mid 2007. The heat exchange tube production lines will be relocated to the Nyby plans. The Nyby mill will also get a new laser annealing pickling line (LAP) at a cost of around €8 million. Nyby currently produces welded pipes and the new additions will increase the facility’s output by 50 percent to around 30, 000 tons. (Nov. 7)
