Japanese JFE Steel Corp. has started to expand its Chiba mill, and the company will increase the output of non-nickel and non-molybdenum stainless steel thin gauge sheet.

JFE Steel will also cut its 410 and 430 stainless steel products, and raise its output of JFE443CT sheet to 13,000 tons.

Due to the shortage and high price of stainless steel material, JFE had developed a new product- JFE443CT, and it contains no nickel, molybdenum or high-carbon chromium.

JFE successfully melted 21 percent chromium and 0.3 percent of titanium into stainless steel.

According to the JFE, this material can stabilize steel structures and strengthen anti-corrosion. Also, JFE mentioned the cost of the newly-developed material will be 20 percent lower than SUS 304.
