According to the report, the Indian Ministry of Steel has announced the relevant steel scrap recycling policy to require each department to increase the scrap utilization by around 7 million tons.

The policy would be established the environmental management system of steel scrap through the set steel scrap recycling center in various regions. Encouraging the mill processing and recycling scrap, minimizing dependence on imported scrap and seek to achieve self-sufficiency.

Some market participants indicated that India had imported steel scrap with around to 7 million tons annually, this policy expected to require the establishment of 70 collection and processing centers.
