The Indian Goa state government said on this Tuesday to suspend the mining activities due to illegal trade in iron ore.

However, the suspension will not be applied to the trade and transportation of iron ore which has been mined, existing and stored at the ports, according to the government’s notification.

R K Verma, the Principal Secretary at mines & geology stated that the government will set up an investigation commission to inspect the mining trades.

It’s known that Gao state is the second largest iron ore industry in Indian with annual production more than 50 million tons, mostly for export markets.

Although the Supreme Court of India has approved to resume 18 mines in the Indian Karnataka state last week, the rule to suspend mining activity in Goa state will affect the country’s iron ore production and exports heavily.
