As Gazprom has reduced the natural gas volume to Europe, Salzgitter, a large German steel mill, is negotiating with the regulatory authority, hoping to obtain an exemption from possible natural gas distribution measures.

Gazprom announced in July that due to force majeure, the natural gas exported to Europe by the company via Nord Stream 1 will be reduced to only one-fifth of the original. Several other large steel mills have adopted the same approach as Salzgitter, hoping to obtain immunity.

Meanwhile, ThyssenKrupp is considering shutting down production due to the recent natural gas supply problem.
